For the 10th anniversary of FINAL FANTASY XI we are preparing some pretty cool items that I think you would all be interested in ![](http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/images/smilies/smile.png)
How would you all like to wield the same weapons as the Archangels?
These weapons are being prepared specially as cosmetic items. The one-hand sword is not a set, but there will be no “Rare” tag so it will be possible to get two and dual wield ![](http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/images/smilies/smile.png)
We are planning to use 1 or 2 of these for our 10th Anniversary Mog Bonanza. Hope you are all looking forward to trying them out.
P.S.: Divine Might was probably one of my favorite battles (music-wise too). | |

| Hey everyone! I am glad to see there is a bunch of excitement for the weapons as well as all your feedback. I have some responses to your questions and comments.
Add actual stats to the weapons!
These weapons are meant to be special items and also ones that are outside the rules. If we were to put actual stats on these weapons, then we would have to follow equipment rules and set the proper jobs that can equip them. This would result in a split of opinions with some of you saying “Who cares, just do it!” and others saying “If I can’t equip it then I don’t want it.”
With that said, we will be keeping these specialty weapons in line with our original objective of cosmetic equipment. (We are actually discussing about making it possible to changing into the Archangels with an enchantment.)
Make a higher level Divine Might
As a future plan, we are exploring the possibilities of an impressive level 99 version battlefield mission or quest. A high level Divine Might is included in this, but the rewards for the battlefield is a sticking point.
While it might be possible to create actual weapons to go along with the high level Divine Might, if we only have this as a reward for an 18 person battle, mages and support jobs might not be as inclined to participate.
Can’t you make the shield and armor too?
The shield is design special to the Elvaan Archangel.
We realize there is a high demand for this, however, adding the shield with the same design and shape for players to use would result in weird graphical glitches. If we changed the shape, then it wouldn’t be the Elvaan Archangel’s shield anymore, so we decided to cut this.
In regards to the armor, there are two reasons why we decided not to do it currently.
The first being that we would need to retexture them the same as we had to do for the weapons, which take quite a bit of time and it would be race specific.
The next reason being that the armor was created to match the Archangel’s white skin and if a player were to equip it there would be quite a lot of strangeness. | |

Why just cosmetic? why wouldn't they have them be a decent item xD just seems like a waste
P.s and of course my drk will have these as town gear if they are easy to obtain

Would be nice if they were decent weapons (meaning not better than relic/mythics but maybe near a lvl 90-95 emp) and you could re-challenge the AA's in a tougher battle. At the end of a successful battle you could chose a reward similar to avatar Prime battles or even such as reward items like CoP rings/earrings where you can only pick one of them.
But .... knowing SE, they will make it minimum 18 person entrance and 1 out of every 15 fights something drops for everyone to cast lots on, and it will go to someone who only wears it as town gear. (Yes that's bringing back some negative Bahamut v2, Odin, and Carbuncle fights in my old shell ....)
That or they will find another place to drop logs for us all.

Only SE would take some of the coolest weapons in the game, give them to players after 10 years and make them totally useless.

From all the crying I hear on these forums that Emps are too easy to get to 90, I'd think it would be a smart idea to make something more challenging. Then again, too many WAR's would get butt hurt I guess and balance would follow.

"Cosmetic only" isn't completely worthless if you want to .dat swap them in for other uglier gear... (even if it wasn't the ultimate purpose behind their implementation)

If they're going to be only from the bonanza, I wonder what rank prize they will be. Unless they're 5 (maybe 4,) you'd probably have to be pretty into how cool they look to ever want one. But if they make them rank 3, 2, or god forbid 1... I just don't see the attraction.
Coolest part about this announcement (for me) is that I was wondering if they were ever going to do another bonanza at all.

As some said; .dat swapping ftw.
I had an AA TT scythe for quite some time (replaced look for ivory sickle)
I knew it though. No way in hell would SE be nice enough to let us have access to the AA weapons skills no matter how you got them (or if they gimped them)...the BALANCE would be ruined the BALANCE!

I don't think I've seen a single thing that people haven't frothed at the mouth over when it comes to this game. They weren't going to be better than the current top end weapons regardless... cosmetic is fine.

As nice as it'd be to see some additional weapon options thrown in, cosmetic is really par for the course when it comes to common Bonanza items. Most of them have offered statues as low-rank prizes, which don't do much of anything.
At least these might be All Jobs weapons that could potentially have use for proc'ing. Or maybe a warp to Sky enchantment or some crap.
